Built in 1890, the historic Waddell Building has stood at the heart of Downtown Tacoma for more than 130 years. Originally constructed as a bank and commercial building, its ornate Victorian Italianate architecture reflects the ambition and energy of Tacoma’s early boom years. After decades of changing uses, the landmark was incorporated into the Courtyard by Marriott in 2004, preserving its historic character.
In 2025, the Waddell Building began another chapter as the home of the Nate Jackson's Super Funny Comedy Club - where we bring Tacoma history, hospitality, and under one roof.

What spaces are available for rent?
- o Full Venue Buyout (showroom ~270 seated guests + Thelma’s Lounge and Foyer)
- Thelma’s Lounge only (approx. 10 seated guests, more if SRO)
- Showroom only (~270 seated guests, as is, cabaret style, 2400 sq ft)
- ½ Showroom (~140 seated guests, as is, cabaret style,1200 sq ft)
What is included in the venue rental?
Inclusions vary depending on the space booked, date, event format, and selected services.
The rental may include:
o Use of the contracted event space
o Built-in stage
o Private bar
o DJ booth
o Tables and chairs coordinated for the approved layout
o Digital screen
o Speakers
o One wired microphone
o Basic technical assistance
o High-speed gigabit Wi-Fi
o Greenroom access where included in the quote
o One on-site event attendant for Full Venue Buyout, where confirmed
o Security personnel where required or included in the quote
o One complimentary on-site parking space for an organizer or VIP, subject to
availability
o Venue tour or planning session, where included in the quote

Can we tour the venue before booking?
Yes. We can schedule a virtual venue tour or in person to review the space, discuss
layouts, and talk through logistics. To request a tour, click here.
Is there on-site parking?
- The venue is located in Downtown Tacoma at 1530 Pacific Ave., below the Courtyard Marriott.
Designated parking may be available in the surrounding area. - A Full Venue Buyout includes one complimentary on-site parking space for an organizer or VIP, subject to availability. Ask your coordinator about current guest-parking options for your event.
