TK Kirkland
TK Kirkland
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Terence ‘TK’ Kirkland is a well-respected comedian, podcast host, writer, businessman, and motivator with 35+ years’ experience in the entertainment industry.
TK’s introduction to stardom began in the late 1980’s. His unapologetic delivery and refusal to change his style for the stage was the perfect complement to the legendary rap group - NWA. TK joined the infamous tour and is known as the first comedic opening act for a rap concert. The use of comedians as opening acts, for a wide range of concerts or stage productions, remains widely used today.
Possessing talents beyond the stage, TK has a natural ability to captivate audiences with laughter and real-life experiences through writing. TK collaborated with HBO and starred in “Mo’ Funny: Black Comedy in America” where his talents were compared to the comedy styles of Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and Moms Mabley.
Other accomplishments include production, for televised shows, and management of up-and-coming comedians. TK’s management company launched the careers of Jamie Foxx, DL Hughley, and Mike Epps. Partnership with Artistry Management Firm allowed TK to work with critically acclaimed actors such as Sandra Bullock, Anthony Michael Hall, and John Leguizamo.
TK often talks about the power of ownership – a business practice he has maintained throughout his career. In 1991, Gangsta Conversation was released under TK’s Pass the Mic record label. It debuted on the Top 10 Billboard. As a content owner, TK released his first stand-up special Are There Any Questions in 2008. In 2017, TK began to share his signature blunt advice and ‘dropping jewels’ with the launch of his popular podcast The TK Kirkland Show. TK has not changed the recipe for his success – he schedules, records, and releases new episodes weekly. In 2019, TK’s first streaming special Who Raised You quickly became the #1 comedy special on Amazon Prime. TK is currently working on his directorial debut with a new comedy special T2MFK set to release Summer 2023.
TK’s blunt and factual-based comedy was the best kept secret of comedy clubs - until social media platforms introduced him to a broader fan base. In addition to maintaining a robust schedule of sold-out performances across the country, and internationally, TK is a regularly featured guest on podcasts and shows streamed across several platforms. Notable appearances include VLAD TV, Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, The 85 South Show, The Breakfast Club, and Drink Champs.
TK attributes his longevity to always staying true to who he is, living a healthy lifestyle, maintaining ownership of projects, and his ability to evolve with technology. In addition to headlining weekly shows and guest appearances, TK continues to explore new business opportunities. Sit back and watch because there are more accomplishments to come from Terence ‘TK’ Kirkland.
